Each level consists of 24 classes. One class is 90 minutes. BASIC LEVELS |

| Level I | |
Students will be introduced to simple and practical conversational phrases. They will learn greetings, making introductions, shopping, asking for the time and date, and reading numbers. Students will also learn reading and writing Hiragana (Japanese syllabary), along with Romaji (Roman Letters). Listening and speaking will be emphasized in this level. Grammar: -desu verb, basic verbs, demonstrative pronouns, simple sentence structure. |

| Level II | |
Students will learn describing their actions and expressing their feelings. Such topics as simple telephone conversations, giving Impressions, and describing locations are used. Students will also learn reading and writing Katakana (another syllabary used primarily for foreign names). Listening and speaking will be emphasized. Grammar: transitive verbs, verbs for giving and receiving, existence verbs, adjectives. |

| Level III | |
At this level, students will learn inviting people and making requests. Topics of conversation are making plans for traveling, parties, ordering, and others. Listening and speaking are emphasized. Grammar: Verbs for giving and receiving, compound sentences, -te form of verbs. |

| Level IV | |
Students will learn: asking for permission, advising people, making requests. Topics for conversations: giving directions to cab drivers, making restaurant reservations, asking the police for help, and other topics. Listening and speaking are emphasized. Grammar: -nai-form of verbs, complex sentences. |
